TRANSITIONING INTO TECH

I took the step to move into tech mid last year, with the plans of mile-stones I intend to achieve within a set period of time. I started well I must say, I had study timetable that I follow daily. I was doing a minimum of 8 hours daily study, watching youTube videos and coding alongside the Instructor.

Everything was going well with HTML and CSS until I got to JavaScript and then I realized that it wasn’t as straight forward as CSS and HTML. This was where my confusion started, I faced JavaScript with so much fear and disinterest just because it wasn’t like what I was used to. I started asking myself these questions recently:

  1. Why think of transitioning into a new field if you are afraid of Changes.
  2. Don’t you know you are on the part of discovering new things on this journey?

There are lots of challenges associated with changes, if you find it difficult to handle them, then you should reconsider your decision. Coding is nothing like biochemistry, my course of study, neither is it similar to anything you have ever done outside coding.

So if you are learning to code on your own, there are lots of websites that have resources that will be helpful for your growth in this path. Explore these sites and remain consistent with coding. some of the websites I have been visiting are https://www.freecodecamp.org/ https://www.w3schools.com/ https://www.codewars.com/ you can check out any of these websites if you are also transitioning into tech fields that requires coding.

Another thing I did in the beginning that helped my pace was having a study schedule. This will help you organize yourself properly and then program your mind to be consistent. planning generally program our mind to adjust to things.

One last thing I will always tell newbies like myself is to explore all free bootcamps in your field. they have been very helpful. Join coding challenges that are happening around, you get to be a part of a community.

Find a community of Techies and be a part of them, they are always ready to hold your hands through your journey. I can say, that they are the most helpful people that I know. I wish you all the best on this journey as you start
